Terpineol
 
[zu Terpentin und vergleiche. ..ol] das, -s, monozyklisch ungesättigter Terpenalkohol, von dem fünf isomere Formen bekannt sind. Ein natürlich vorkommendes Isomer ist das α-Terpineol, eine fliederartig riechende feste Substanz, die in Wasser unlöslich, in Alkohol löslich ist. α-Terpineol kommt in freier oder veresterter Form in vielen ätherischen Ölen (besonders im Pineöl) vor; synthetisch wird es aus Geraniol gewonnen. Verwendung findet es v. a. in der Parfümindustrie.
